Update on Our 2011 Reunion

Dear 1981 Classmate,

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been 30 years since most of us left MIT. Together we grew from MIT students into MIT alumni. There’s no one else on the planet who has our shared experience and perspective. I’d say that’s an infinite connection!

Make plans now to return to the MIT campus for our reunion June 2-5, 2011. Tech Reunions is the largest annual gathering of MIT alumni—don’t miss this amazing opportunity to engage once again with this unique group of people!

This year also marks another important event—MIT’s 150th anniversary. The celebration starts in January and continues until the Toast to Tech in Killian Court on Saturday night during our reunion (you can learn more about the 150-day celebration at http://mit150.mit.edu/). It is going to be a fantastic weekend!

Come back to MIT and reconnect with friends, visit your favorite haunts, and tour new buildings. There will be something for everyone—we’ll provide great social events, invite you into the classroom, and entertain your family.

At our reunion you will have lots of choices:

  • Attend the 114th annual Tech Night at Boston Pops. MIT buys out Symphony Hall!
  • Explore what’s new on campus with tours and activities.
  • Learn about cutting-edge research from MIT’s great faculty during Technology Day.
  • Socialize with your classmates at great events we're planning exclusively for our class on Friday and Saturday night.
  • Have some fun with the whole family at the Tech Challenge Games, the annual MIT-style field day, and enjoy the scenic Charles River during the Reunion Row crew race.
  • Enroll your children in Kid Tech, which provides fun and education for children ages 6-12.

Registration opens in March, but here’s what you can do now:

  • Check out our class web page, and visit http://alum.mit.edu/reunions for updates about class-specific events and the general schedule.
  • Contact classmates! Reunions are about people—the more the merrier! Reach out to your friends and encourage them to attend. You can find their contact information through MIT’s secure online directory on the Infinite Connection website. You can also register if you don’t have an account.
  • Help find missing members of our class.
  • Reserve a hotel room. MIT has reserved room blocks at discounted rates. The hotels will be served by a shuttle during our reunion. You will also be able to reserve dorm rooms starting in March.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact Robert Dimmick, our class representative at the Alumni Association. You can reach him through email at rdimmick@mit.edu or by phone at 617-253-8225.

I hope you will join us for a wonderful weekend!
