Class of 1981 Student Financial Aid Fund

Dear Class of 1981,

I am pleased to share with you an update on the Class of 1981 Student Financial Aid Fund. At the same
time, allow me to thank you for your continued support of scholarship aid at MIT.

The following pages [see attachment - Your Webmaster] illustrate the significant impact your fund has on students today. As you will see,
the students who benefit from alumni-supported scholarship funds like yours are brilliant, curious, and
ambitious—traits that will serve them well throughout their education at MIT.

Just as MIT competes with other top universities for the best and brightest students, the Institute’s
ability to provide a competitive financial aid package remains a great challenge. Only through the
ongoing support provided by scholarship funds like yours can MIT remain a true meritocracy, offering a
world-class education to students who have genuinely earned it, regardless of their financial need.

and MIT, I thank the alumni and friends who contributed to this fund, as well as the leadership who
made this endowment a fundraising priority.
