Lowell Kim asks...

In case you didn't know, yes, Baker had some "quints," i.e. rooms with 5 people in them.

Some other "titles" that may be fun to track down: Sex God and Sex Goddess, Most Obnoxious Freshmen, Father Time & Baby New Year (part of the New Year's Eve party).

I'm pretty sure MBPP (Massive Band Party Plus) started spring '85. Would be interested to know when it stopped.

Tank (class vs class speed drinking).  When did it start and stop?  I think we did that at the Octoberfest party.

New Year's Eve Party (held in February) - my guess is that stopped in '87 when we were dry and didn't pick back up.  When did it start?

Reg Day Parties

When did the Pub start and end?

Who created the Baker logo and when?

Apple picking started fall '85.

Students rebuilt roof deck summer '86.

When did faculty-invited cocktail parties start and stop?

Are lofts no longer allowed?  If so, when did that happen?  I assume with the latest renovations.

How about beer fridges? When did they disappear?  Or the alcohol closet?

Do we still do Blue Hills as part of R/O?  When did that start and stop?

MBPP

I was also wondering when MBPP stopped. I remember it pre-froshing in Spring 1991 I think, and recall it continuing through my time at Baker from 1991 to 1995. Perhaps the change in alcohol policy ended it?

MBPP & Pub

I've noticed a few comments asking about MBPP and Pub stopping.  I was in Baker 2001-2005, and they were still going strong when I was there, including the sex god and goddess.  Perhaps they stopped temporarily and were later revived?  Why do we think these events have ended?

Baker Logo

Lowell Kim asked a question about who designed the Baker logo.
The logo was designed by Robert Horton '76.  I'm not sure of the year but it was probably 75 or 76.
I lived in Baker from 1974-1977.

I was in Baker from spring 1983 to fall 1985; Les was in Baker from fall 1979 through summer 1983.
I remember Chris Craven being chosen Sex God in spring 1983.  I think he may have been the first Sex God and started the tradition.  A Sex Goddess had to be chosen for gender equality.

The Tank competition was Institute wide.  Each frat and dorm fielded a team.  All team members had to be of legal drinking age.  The frats used to win but Baker was the best of the dorms.  Tank happened all 4 years Les was there (fall 1979 through fall 1982) and he was on the Baker Tank team either junior or senior year.  I remember Tank happening fall 1982 and I believe it stopped when they raised the legal drinking age to 21, making it harder to field a team.

The pub was happening 1979 - 1982; I think there was a pub in 1983; I don't recall if it died out while I was there (perhaps to be replaced by the musical productions)?  Sorry for my terrible memory.
